MAY Newsletter

Last year’s foals are growing fast now with spring grass and most of them have had the necessary operation to allow them to live a useful life without the risk of uncontrolled breeding. Of course all veterinary attention costs money so any contributions to these expenses would be very gratefully received by the Moorland Mousie Trust. Many of the youngsters are now on grazing land where they can concentrate on eating and growing for the next couple of years.

Our ridden ponies are back in the routine of regular exercise and six of them took part in the Golden Horseshoe Pleasure Ride in May to raise funds for the Centre; you can still sponsor them by texting MMTX22 £5 to 70070. Diamond, a seven-year-old, is being backed at the moment and thoroughly enjoying the process; he is such an enthusiastic pony and wants to meet everyone who visits the Centre.

We are looking for a new volunteer to come in to help with our shop and office work for a few hours on Tuesdays and Fridays each week; this would suit someone living locally who is not able or would prefer not to be involved in the mucking out and other heavier jobs. If this would interest you please email your details to info@exmoorponycentre.org.uk

If you want to learn more about us we will be at Witheridge Fair on Saturday 20th June with one of our ponies. Advance notice that on Saturday 18th July you can also find us at Dulverton Fete with a pony too all being well.

Our annual Birthday Bash will take place at the Centre on Sunday 26th July from 11:00 till 3:00; this will include activities for children, refreshments for all and most importantly, pony rides for those aged 4 and over.

If you wish to arrange Moorland rides or Taster Sessions during school holidays, please book well in advance to guarantee you get a place. Please note that Taster sessions take place under cover, whatever the weather!

If you could help us in any way, whether by mucking out or by holding a fund-raising event, please get in touch on 01398 323093.

Finally a FREE offer – if you would like some horse manure for your garden, do come along during our opening hours, 10 till 4 Sunday to Friday, with your own bags and help yourself!
